As God has done in the past, He will meet your needs in the present.

Personal Crisis

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

When you cross deep rivers, I will be with you, and you won’t drown. When you walk through fire, you won’t be burned or scorched by the flames.

Isaiah 43:2

Nobody likes to face crisis. We reason that godly men are so on top of things that they just don’t have the same problems as others have. The truth is that all people face the fire and deep waters. There are, however, special provisions for God’s children who face these problems.

The beginning of Isaiah 43 reads:

“Descendants of Jacob, I, the Lord, created you and formed your nation. Israel, don’t be afraid. I have rescued you. I have called you by name; now you belong to me” (Isaiah 43:1). Don’t forget God loves you. He may well have allowed the experience that has you backed up to the wall or left you lying flat on a hospital bed because He wants to do something in your life that just couldn’t happen apart from difficult circumstances. God explains that He allows tough circumstances because His children are “precious in His sight” (see Isaiah 43:4).

How much more important to know this than to be exempt from trials and to wonder if the bridge over which we must cross is strong enough to hold us.
