As God has done in the past, He will meet your needs in the present.

Decisions. Look to God.

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009
Making the right decision can sometimes be very difficult. It becomes increasingly difficult when you have two or three good options. We may wonder if God cares. As Christians, how do we make good choices about relationships, money, college, and ministry? The Bible gives us some wonderful principles to follow. What are some things that should influence a believer’s decision-making process?

All of our decisions should be grounded in a relationship with Jesus, who makes us eligible for all that the Father has for us. We should also have a desire to know God’s will. If we want His help in making decisions, we must have a desire for Him to show us where we should walk (Psalm 25:4-5).

Not only do we need a personal relationship with Jesus and a desire to know His will, but we should also have confidence that God is ready to reveal His will to us (Psalm 25:8-10).

The follower of Jesus does not operate by sight, but by faith. This means that we are willing to trust God in spite of how things look (Hebrews 11:17-19).

But how does God guide the believer in making decisions?

THROUGH THE BIBLE. There are some decisions we don’t need to spend time praying about; we simply need to obey what God has already revealed in His Word (Psalm 119:9; 11, 98-100).

THROUGH THE PROMPTINGS OF THE SPIRIT (John 14:16-17,26; 16:13-15). The Holy Spirit lives inside of every believer, and He bears witness to God’s truth and to God’s will for our lives.

THROUGH SUPERNATURAL INTERVENTION (Acts 18:9).

THROUGH USUAL AND UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES (Numbers 13:1-3; Acts 6:1-4).
My part in decision-making? Seek God’s glory and remain humble in the process.

READ PSALM 25:4-5; 8-10

Show me your paths
and teach me to follow;
guide me by your truth
and instruct me.
Keep me safe,
and I always trust you.
Psalm 25:4-5
.
You are honest and merciful,
and you teach sinners
how to follow your path.
.
You lead humble people
to do what is right
and to stay on your path.
In everything you do,
you are kind and faithful
to everyone who keeps
our agreement with you.
Psalm 25:8-10
